Send your kids on this week-long trip to a beautiful campsite in Yercaud where they can master outdoor survival skills and learn rock climbing.

In this fun summer camp, children get to spend most of their time learning new skills like tying different knots, navigational skills like reading maps and using a compass, all while camping in the lap of nature.

This camp is the perfect opportunity for your 9-12 year olds to learn something new, polish their team-building skills and boost their confidence levels.
Destination
Located about 1.5 hours from Salem in the Yercaud hills in Tamil Nadu, the 'Jungle Outback' campsite is nestled in a beautiful estate at a height of 5100 ft., with the unique distinction of being the highest permanent nature camp in South India. Situated within picturesque coffee plantations and orchards of orange trees, the campsite allows for exciting adventure activities amongst the tranquil natural surroundings.

Fine print

Rules on the trip

Mobile phones are not allowed on the program. The attempt to use phones disrupts the program and engagement of the child. If carried, cell phones can be confiscated, and any violation of this rule will be dealt with strictly.

Youreka will accept no responsibility for loss or theft of any article.

Food items like cola cans, chips, biscuits, snacks etc. are not allowed on campus. It makes the wilderness campuses unsafe.

Participants have to carry their own bags. Parents can put a name tag on their child's bag.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at the campsite

Chennai campers: Arrive at Chennai central railway station at 5:15 a.m. and board the train from Salem.

Bengaluru campers: Arrive at the Youreka office at 5 a.m. and depart for the campsite by coach.

Day 2: Activity at the campsite

Participants wake up early at 6.30 a.m. and enjoy a hearty breakfast. They then spend the first half of the day enjoying a major activity/skill like rock climbing or outdoor survival skills.

The second half of the day is usually spent on navigational or other activities like using a compass or learning to read a map etc.

Day 3: Activity at the campsite

Campers start their day with an early breakfast and then engage in outdoor activities like rock climbing and learn outdoor survival skills. They are also taught about the different types of knots and their importance. Participants end their day with a delicious dinner at the campsite.

Day 4: Activity at the campsite

After an early breakfast session, participants learn some more outdoor survival skills like pitching tents, lighting a fire without matchsticks, cook their own food and go on long treks.

Day 5: Activity at the campsite

Participants undertake a rock climbing module which includes bouldering on 10 feet of a rock patch with and without ropes.

They perform intense rappelling sessions under expert supervision and learn to climb big patches of rock. This is both a challenging and fun-filled session indeed!

Day 6: Activity at the campsite

Participants are trained to be responsible travellers and learn the significance of the 'leave no trace' principle.

They also help in cleaning up the campsite and learn a host of outdoor survival skills.

Day 7: Depart from campsite

Participants leave the campsite and reach their respective destination by night.

Bengaluru campers: Arrive at the Queen Victoria statue at 7:30 p.m.

Chennai campers: Arrive at Chennai central railway station at 10:25 p.m.

Payments Terms

  • There will be no direct communication with children or staff on campus during the course of the program. Parents can check-in with the supplier for updates on their child's progress if required.
  • No cash is required on the programme. Children may carry a maximum of Rs. 2000 to buy some memorabilia on campus.
  • The campuses are substance free. Participants found using tobacco or alcohol will be sent back without any refund and the costs will be borne by the parent.
  • Participants will be briefed regarding the rules and regulations, especially those related to safety and discipline before the program starts, and during the program. They are expected to abide by the rules or risk being sent back at own cost.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • f cancellation is done with more than 7 days to departure, a fixed cost of Rs 2000 is charged
  • If cancellation is done within 2 to 7 days for departure, 50% of the total fee is charged
  • If cancellation is done in less than 2 days to departure, there will be no refund
  • An additional cancellation fee of Rs 500 will be deducted as processing fee where applicable.
